Installing the Java 2 SDK

1. Get the latest release of the Java 2 Software Development Kit for your operating system from Sun's web site http://java.sun.com/products/j2se/. Install the Java 2 software. The base directory of this installation will be further referred to as JAVA_HOME. This is the directory where you should find these files (when a typical installation is done):

   (Note: The date shown in the directory listing will be the date you installed the JDK. The file names and sizes are shown for J2SDK 1.4.2 and will be slightly different if this is not the version you install.)
